Lingonberry is a bright red, four-celled berry that is edible when ripe in late summer or early fall. A low, creeping, evergreen shrub, Lingonberry is also known as Mountain Cranberry and grows throughout parts of North America, Eurasia and Japan. Among other things, Lingonberry fruit may be eaten raw, cooked into preserves or sauces, and used as a flavoring. Many of the beneficial properties of other antioxidant-rich berries, such as cranberries and blueberries, also apply to Lingonberry fruit.
